David Briggs

Dave BriggsDavid Briggs is Theatre Director for the City of High Point, and has been in the presenting and venue management field for over 35 years. Mr. Briggs served as the Executive Director of Shaw Center for the Arts, the award-winning flagship arts venue in Baton Rouge, Louisiana for 5 years. He also was the first director of and consulted on the construction and opening of the J.E. Broyhill Civic Center in Lenoir, North Carolina. Prior to this he served as Theatre Director and instructor at Lenoir-Rhyne University in Hickory.

Mr. Briggs is a founding and long-serving member of the North Carolina Presenters Consortium and serves on the North American Performing Arts Managers and Agents board as well as the High Point Community Concert Association board. He has served as a board member for High Point Arts Council, North Carolina Theatre Conference, Baton Rouge Little Theatre, and Foothills Performing Arts.

Mr. Briggs has presented everything from Broadway to bluegrass, classical to comedy, and opera to dance. His love of live performance, theatre, and the process of creating is the driving force for his career in the arts. He also owns the consulting business, Dave’s Arts Management Network (otherwise known as DAMN), which provides management consulting, board development, and fiscal organization assistance to non-profit and governmental arts organizations. David and his wife Elizabeth reside in High Point. He has three adult children, Colin, Katherine, and Victoria.
