"Brad Miller Running Scared (in Contest with Robinson)"

Congressman Brad Miller's campaign recently called WXLV ABC45 to complain about me. They accused me of working for his opponent, Vernon Robinson. Their intent was to have me taken off the air. News flash, Brad. Not only do I not work for Robinson, I also don't work for ABC45, so fortunately I can't be fired. But you didn't know that.

Truth is, Miller is running scared these days, and with good reason. Robinson, the former councilman from Winston-Salem might be a loose cannon who sometimes exaggerates his positions, but at least he HAS positions. While Robinson advocated for a halt to illegal immigration, Miller voted NO to increased border security. Brad also opposed a bill that would protect our pension plans, he voted for continuation of the Death Tax, and he voted against a bill that would bar convicted child sex offenders from moving to the U.S.

Clearly, Miller has a lot to answer for on issues that need to be discussed. And so his staff promised me back in June that he would make a joint appearance with Robinson on Triad Today this Fall. Then, two weeks ago Brad backed out. The implication is that he will only participate in TV debates that are tightly structured and carry very little risk - just the opposite of Triad Today ,which is an off- the-cuff discussion that favors candidates who have nothing to hide or feel guilty about.

Brad has been the Invisible Man for two terms, while Vernon isn't afraid to show up and debate anywhere, anytime. True, Miller is the incumbent, and incumbents are hard to beat, but Vernon is striking a chord with those of us who are angry about illegal aliens and loss of American jobs. And that anger, especially among unaffiliated and undecided voters, might be enough to give Robinson a photo finish victory on November 7.

Even people who don't particularly care for me and my political views, don't like it when a powerful politician like Miller tries to get someone fired, especially when Brad has voted for trade policies that have already moved thousands of North Carolina jobs overseas. But I'm willing to turn the other cheek.

There is still time for Miller to make amends and meet the challenge by appearing on Triad Today as promised. If he doesn't, then residents of the 13th Congressional District should cast their ballots for Robinson. Voters don't like a man who runs away from a fight, and they might just fire Brad Miller if he keeps running in the wrong direction.
