Triad Today premiered in October of 2003, and now, as then, it is the only locally-produced public affairs program broadcast on commercial television in Piedmont North Carolina.
Our mission is to work with community-minded sponsors to present information of interest to Triad viewers. Each week we cover a variety of topics, ranging from healthcare to education, and from politics to finance. Our guests have been just as varied, ranging from Congressmen to NASCAR drivers, and from National Championship coaches to nationally-recognized leaders in business and higher education.
Triad Today is, perhaps, most famous for its popular "Round Table" discussion at the end of each program. Host Jim Longworth is joined each week by legendary Triad journalist Ogi Overman, and guest panelists such as FM101's Brad Krantz and Britt Whitmire, Yes! Weekly's editor Brian Clarey, Winston-Salem Urban League president Keith Grandberry, Winston-Salem Journal columnist Scott Sexton, radio show host Bob Campbell, Guilford County Sheriff BJ Barnes, and Forsyth County Commissioner Dave Plyler. Together they engage in a no-holds-barred discussion of current events and personalities.
In 2005, Triad Today received the prestigious Spectrum of Democracy Award from the North Carolina Center for Voter Education, and has been recognized by Congress for our outstanding use of television to serve the public good.
Triad Today is produced weekly at the studios of WXLV-TV / WMYV-TV in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. It airs every Friday morning at 6:30 am on WXLV (ABC 45, Time Warner channel 7) and repeats every Sunday night at 10 pm on WMYV (My 48, Time Warner channel 15).
